IS THE CHEVY BLAZER RIGHT FOR YOU?
As a Chevy dealership, one of the things we love most about the modern Chevy lineup is that it has a ton of different vehicles to offer. Just looking at their SUVs, for example, Chevy offers seven different standard models right now, with excellent all-electric options coming in the next couple of years. Having so many great vehicles available makes it easy for us to find the perfect option for all of our customers since we can listen to your needs and then help you narrow down your choices to the perfect ride. It also means we have many customers who come to us uncertain which model is right for them.
While we love every vehicle in the Chevy lineup, the Chevy Blazer is one of our favorite options when someone is uncertain which crossover or SUV model might be right for them. The Blazer is a midsize model, which means it slots perfectly in that “just right” space between too big and too small. As your New Jersey Chevy Blazer dealer, we’re always happy to answer your questions and work with you in person or through our website to help you find the perfect vehicle. But if you’re the type of person who prefers to work things out on your own before you head to a dealership, then let’s take a look at if the Blazer might be right for you.
What Does the Chevy Blazer Offer?
Let’s start with some big-picture stuff, and then we’ll look at some of the more specific aspects of the Blazer, the 2023 model in particular. For starters, this is a midsize model, so if you’re not sure what size would be best for you, this is a great place to start since it works well for a wide range of drivers. The midsize design means it has plenty of room inside for passengers and cargo alike without getting so large that it can take over your life.
This is a two-row model with seating for up to five passengers; some midsize options can include additional seating, but that can get pretty cramped for a group of adults. Five seats are perfect for a family or even a group of friends to all pile in and come along with you for a ride, a long road trip, or wherever you need to go. It also makes it a great size for simply getting around town on your daily commute or running errands. That’s why we say this is a “just right” option among the different size classes.
In terms of power and performance, there are two engines offered for the Chevy Blazer, starting with a 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine that gives you 228 hp (horsepower). If you want more power in your midsize SUV, then there’s an available 3.6L V6 engine that boosts that performance up to 308 hp; no matter which engine you choose, however, it comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and incredibly responsive driving experience. Both engines are a lot of fun to drive, but your choice will impact the kind of fuel efficiency you get with the Blazer: the 2.0L engine gets an estimated 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway, while the 3.6L engine gets an estimated 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.
Speaking of performance, the Blazer has even more to offer thanks to the Twin-Clutch Advanced All-Wheel Drive (AWD) available on the RS trim. Whether you’re looking for something that will give you extra traction on dirt roads or want AWD performance for dealing with rough New Jersey weather, this is a fantastic choice. The Drive Mode Selector empowers you to adjust performance and traction depending on road conditions, including Snow/Ice, Sport, and Tour modes for standard models, while the AWD version features options for Off-Road and Tow/Haul modes.
Style, Function, and Safety
Overall, inside and out, the Chevy Blazer is gorgeous and incredibly stylish, making an immediate impression on anyone who sees it. In fact, for the 2023 model year, the exterior design has been refreshed, but we’ll get to that more in a moment. Inside the Blazer, you’ll find a sleek and stylish SUV that is incredibly comfortable for everyone while you get to take advantage of advanced technology and great safety features.
In terms of space, you get about 39 inches of headroom and 41 inches of legroom up front, while your passengers in the back get around 38 inches of headroom and more than 39 inches of legroom. When it comes to loading up with the stuff you need to take with you, you get more than 30 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the rear seats and about 64 cu.ft. of total cargo volume with the rear seats folded down. That gives you plenty of room for bags and supplies for road trips, loading up for a weekend of camping, or simply running errands.
The Chevy Blazer is also an incredibly safe SUV thanks to a wide range of standard and available safety features. Every model comes with the Chevy Safety Assist package, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, a Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and Front Pedestrian Braking. You also get Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning, plus IntelliBeam automatic high beams on every Blazer model, regardless of trim level or options. Other safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, which can automatically adjust your speed to reduce strain and weariness while driving, are also available.
What’s New on the 2023 Chevy Blazer
For the 2023 model year, Chevy has made the Blazer better than ever with a number of impressive improvements and upgrades. As we mentioned above, the exterior has received a major refresh that includes a new front fascia, new grille design, new LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, and new taillamps. In addition to this exterior update, every Blazer model now comes with a 10-inch Infotainment display standard, regardless of trim, plus new 18, 20, and 21-inch wheels are available. Other improvements for 2023 include having a wireless charging pad available on all models, not just certain trims, along with increased availability of Adaptive Cruise Control; you also have some stunning new exterior colors available for 2023, including Sterling Gray Metallic, Copper Bronze Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat that all make an impression.
What Are You Looking For?
This is the big question when you’re shopping for a vehicle and, ultimately, what you have to decide on to figure out if the Blazer is right for you. For example, if you know that you need to have more than four other people with you in your vehicle, then the five-passenger Blazer won’t work for you. Similarly, if you’re looking for something with more than 64 cu.ft. of total cargo space available inside, then you’ll want to consider a larger option like the Chevy Traverse or Tahoe.
But if everything we’ve looked at so far sounds good, including the impressive engines, excellent fuel economy, and spacious interior of the Chevy Blazer, this could be the right model for you. With numerous improvements inside and out, the 2023 Blazer is better than ever, and it’s become a more refined version of its iconic self. Next year, Chevy is going even further with an all-electric option of the Blazer available for the 2024 model year, but for now, the standard Blazer is the perfect option for a wide range of drivers.
