CHEVY HAS TRUCK OPTIONS PERFECTLY DESIGNED FOR THE NEEDS OF YOUR BUSINESS
It doesn’t matter if you’re an independent contractor looking for a pickup to get you to a job site every day or if you run a successful construction company and have a growing fleet of dozens of trucks; the right vehicle can be the difference between getting your job done, and losing out on a big contract. As you’re looking at different work trucks for sale, it’s important to consider what you need in a work truck and choose a vehicle that will deliver what you’re looking for. While you don’t want to come up short and miss out on the kind of capability you need, you also don’t want to spend too much and cut into your profits.
In order to get a sense of what will work best for you, we’ll look at the assortment of work trucks Chevy offers and see what each one has to offer. This should help point you in the right direction so that you can narrow down your options. If you have more questions, however, then our team here at Richard Lucas Chevrolet is here to help and make sure you find that perfect truck.
The Chevy Colorado
If you’ve got fairly light-duty needs for your truck, then the midsize Colorado can be a great option for your business. This isn’t the right choice if you’re looking for massive towing or need to outfit your truck with a dump bed, but it works for many smaller uses. The Colorado can be a great addition to a fleet, particularly if you need a truck that can get to a wide range of job sites, even ones in hard-to-reach locations, without needing to be loaded with supplies or equipment. Despite its midsize design, the Colorado can handle up to 1,550 lbs of payload capacity or up to 7,000 lbs of towing, so it can still get plenty of work done.
The Chevy Silverado LTD
While the Colorado is a great option, we also know that a midsize pickup isn’t going to meet the needs of many workers, especially those in a trade. Chevy has a wide range of full-size options available, starting with the Silverado LTD model. This is essentially a pre-update version of the Silverado 1500, which was just updated for the 2022 model year. This gives it impressive capability and performance, plus a lower starting price than the standard Silverado.
If its robust performance and low starting price sound like the perfect choice for a truck to add to your work fleet, then you can see why the Silverado LTD is such a popular option. When properly equipped, it can handle up to 13,300 lbs of towing capacity and offer more than 89 cu.ft. of available cargo space. The LTD features the same improved starting engine as the standard Silverado for 2022: a 2.7L Turbo engine that delivers 310 hp and remarkable performance. With the ongoing chip shortage making it difficult to find the updated 2022 Silverado 1500, the Silverado LTD is a terrific option that you shouldn’t overlook, particularly for a work truck.
The Chevy Silverado 1500
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys the latest features and technology, then you’ll want to get your hands on the new 2022 Silverado 1500. It features the more powerful 2.7L Turbo engine found in the LTD model as its standard offering, with plenty of upgrade options, including a 6.2L V8 that produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, as well as a Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
This diesel engine boosts the towing capacity of the Silverado 1500 to 13,300 lbs, while the available V8 can handle up to 9,100 lbs of towing. The tech features loaded into the Silverado really let it shine as a mobile office that you can take from one job site to another and remain connected to your employees or other team members working on a major project. The Multi-Flex Tailgate has six different functions to make it easy to load and unload your truck, plus the Silverado 1500 has an industry-first power-up/-down tailgate available.
The Chevy Silverado HD (2500/3500)
If you need even greater performance in your work truck than the standard Silverado 1500 models can offer, then it’s time to check out the heavy-duty options. Conventional truck configurations include the Silverado 2500 HD and the Silverado 3500 HD, both of which can deliver fantastic performance and capability. You can choose between a Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque or a 6.6L V8 gas engine with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The standard gas engine can handle up to 17,370 lbs of towing with the right configuration, while the 3500 HD with the diesel engine can pull up to 36,000 lbs of weight behind it using a fifth-wheel hitch.
These are powerful, hard-working trucks ideal for a wide range of uses and industries that need serious power on the job site. Unless you need greater towing or a higher Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) than these models can handle or prefer an open configuration that you can upfit with the setup you need, this is as good as it gets. For many of our commercial customers, a Silverado HD is the perfect option, but Chevy does have several even-more robust options available.
The Chevy Silverado HD Chassis Cabs
If you need to be able to customize your truck with an upfit option like a flatbed, dump trailer, or custom storage configuration, then the Silverado HD Chassis Cab models are fantastic choices. You have several options available from Chevy in a chassis cab, and the 3500 HD is the starting choice, giving you up to 14,000 lbs of GVWR and 7,571 lbs of maximum payload to utilize when choosing an upfit.
While that can certainly work for many different applications, Chevy also gives you more options with greater amounts of capability. You can pick a 4500 HD, 5500 HD, or 6500 HD model of the Silverado Chassis Cab, giving you tremendous power to work with. When properly equipped, the Silverado 6500 HD Chassis Cab has 23,500 lbs of maximum GVWR for you to utilize and up to 37,000 lbs of Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) if you need to do some towing too.
The Chevy Low Cab Forward
Finally, for something different, Chevy has a Low Cab Forward model available, which is ideal for handling massive amounts of weight loaded onto it. There are numerous versions of the Chevy Low Cab Forward, including 3500 and 4500 models, with HD and XD models for the 4500 and 5500, plus a 6500 XD for the ultimate power and capability. If you choose the 6500 XD, you get a work truck with a massive 25,950 GVWR and up to 16,217 lbs of maximum payload. Whether you need to transport a tremendous amount of supplies and materials or you need to be able to get a machine to a job site, the Chevy Low Cab Forward is the perfect way to do it.
