Classified as a small crossover SUV, the 2022 Trailblazer is a visually striking vehicle that provides car shoppers with a sporty ride that slots into a comfortable space between the smaller subcompact SUVs and the midsize SUVs. The Trailblazer has been a favorite model here at your NJ Chevy Trailblazer dealer since its return in 2021. You might not be as familiar with this Chevy option as some of the other popular models from the brand, but fear not; we have a solution for you. For every potential customer looking to purchase the latest SUV from Chevy, we have created a 2022 Trailblazer buyer’s guide to help you find the right model with the right features.
2022 Trailblazer Trim Configurations
The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is available in four different trim configurations – the LS, LT, ACTIV, and RS. The base LS trim starts at just under $22,000 and will provide you with all the essential amenities that you want your vehicle to have. If you have more expensive taste or simply like to have some upgrades, then opting for one of the higher trims will do the trick.
All four of the trims are available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations; however, if your choice is the base LS with the 1.2L, you will only be able to get front-wheel drive. This base engine does give you a pretty good fuel economy of 28 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. If you get a model with the 1.3L engine, your fuel economy will be somewhere around 29 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway with front-wheel drive and 26 MPG city and 30 MPG highway with all-wheel drive.
LS Trim Features
The LS comes standard with the Ecotec 1.2L engine that produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 1.3L that produces 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque when you get the all-wheel drive model. The LS also comes with the Chevy Safety Assist, which is standard across every trim variation of the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. Set atop 17-inch wheels and featuring automatic start/start engine technology with driver shift control and electric power steering, the Trailblazer LS trim features all the standard mechanical amenities to make the ride smooth and efficient.
All trims come with the standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System. For the LS trim, that includes a 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen, an accompanying 3.5-inch diagonal monochromatic driver information center, and a 6-speaker audio system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are standard across all trims, along with voice-activated controls and Bluetooth wireless support. Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity and USB ports are also standard across every trim. On the comfort side, there is a 6-way manual driver seat, and the LS also comes standard with cloth-trimmed seats. OnStar support and a rear vision camera are also standard. Also, a complimentary 3-month subscription to SiriusXM is included, along with Teen Driver mode.
LT Trim Features
If you want to move up the trim line, the LT features everything that the LS trim features, but with some additions. For instance, the LT trim (and above) comes standard with the more powerful 1.3L engine. You can also opt to add the trailering equipment package for the LT trim if you plan on doing any light towing at up to 1,000 pounds with the small crossover SUV.
The LT trim comes with 17-inch high-gloss black aluminum machined faced wheels. However, 18-inch aluminum wheels are also available. Various exterior package accessories are optional, such as the Blackout Package, which adds a black front and rear fascia to the Trailblazer, including a Black grille bar.
The Convenience Package is also available for the LT trim, which upgrades the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 suite from a 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen to an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen. A 120-volt power outlet is included, with type-A and type-C USB charging ports. Driver and passenger sliding visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, and automatic climate control help bolster the appeal of the LT trim. There is also the option to upgrade the 3.5-inch driver information center to a 4.2-inch diagonal driver information center.
The Driver Confidence Package for the LT trim adds additional driver assists and safety functionality. These features include the Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and the Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. An Adaptive Cruise Control Package is also available for those who want the option to activate the feature while cruising around town.
The LT also has optional availability for the panoramic power sunroof, roof rack cross rails, and a Premium Seating Package. The seating package adds a leather-wrapped shift knob, a leather steering wheel, and leather-appointed seating. The LT also allows you to customize the interior with optional cloth seat trimming in different colors, including Jet Black and Medium Ash Gray.
RS Trim Features
As far as the mechanics are concerned, the RS is very similar to the LT trim but with the added availability of a trailer hitch and trailering harness. Also, the trailering equipment comes standard for the RS trim. Where the RS really differs from the previous trim is with its sporty styling and more luxurious features.
The RS rides atop 18-inch high-gloss black unidirectional aluminum machined faced wheels. The RS trim also has the exclusive options for a Crimson Metallic or Mosaic Black Metallic two-tone color roof. LED tail lamps come standard, while LED headlamps are optional. Inside, many of the available interior features from the LT carryover for the RS. However, there are higher quality available features for the RS.
A Bose premium 7-speaker audio system is optional for the RS trim. Much like the LT, the 8-inch infotainment system is also available as an upgrade over the 7-inch system. HD radio and an HD rear vision camera are also available as upgrades for the RS trim. When it comes to seating, you have access to Jet Black with Red Accents to spruce up the interior, but cloth seating with leatherette trimming comes standard.
There is also the option of adding the Technology Package, which includes the infotainment screen upgrade, an SD card reader, wireless charging, the Bose audio system, the 4.2-inch diagonal driver information cluster, and a SiriusXM 360L trial subscription. The Trailering Package also adds the trailer hitch, harness, and a trailer hitch trim bezel, which is only available for the upper-tier trims.
ACTIV Trim Features
The ACTIV trim comes with all the available technology from the RS trim, but with a few added bonuses. Since it’s designed as an off-road trim, you are going to want to get it with the 1.3L turbocharged engine and 9-speed automatic transmission. The ACTIV comes with a functional skid plate and specialized off-road suspension tuning.
The ACTIV sits on 17-inch high-gloss, black aluminum machined-face wheels attached to sport terrain tires. Titanium chrome-plated front and rear lower fascias also come standard on the ACTIV, while an available tubular nudge bar can also be added to the front. To top off the exterior options, the ACTIV allows you to customize the roof with a Zeus Bronze Metallic two-tone color scheme.
Inside, the ACTIV features the same available technology as the RS trim. This includes the infotainment upgrades and the available Technology Package. The interior comes standard with leatherette seats; however, the seating can be customized with exclusive Jet Black and Almond Butter leatherette seat trimming. Like the LT and RS trims, there are also seat adjusters with 2-way power lumbar support. The RS and ACTIV trims also come standard with active noise cancellation within the cabin.
Optional Trim Features
There are a number of optional package options for the trims, along with various accessories as well. Some of the trim-neutral features include all-weather floor liners, carpeted mats, as well as cargo nets, and exterior hood and window deflectors. You can purchase these accessories separately for the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer.
Some of the other trim-neutral add-ons include the Driver Confidence Package, the availability of a keyless entry pad, and the Sun and Liftgate Package for the LT, RS, and ACTIV trims. All trims can also use the Winter/Summer Floor Mat Package, which comes with premium carpeted floor mats and all-weather floor liners. Various cargo organizers are also available for all the trims, including cargo mats, cargo liners, and cargo covers.
